Two feet on the wire

Live wire

Bird perched

On one of three

Beautiful pink breast

Against blue sky

And mountain

In bright sun

At times wobbling precariously

But entirely unperturbed.

Live wire.

Not for this bird

Both feet on the wire.

A safe perch with a view.

Divine kisses

Within moments

Of sitting in the garden

A huge butterly swoops in

Large wings

Black and yellow patterns

Dancing, gliding, playfully

Around the garden

Nowhere to go

In no hurry

A sharp intake of breathe

And a smile

Then a red dragonfly

Pays a short visit

As if he knows

Red’s my favourite colour

As if he knows

Another of his kind

Years ago

Had been a means

Of God’s whisper and kiss

To me

An even bigger smile

A reminder

Then swallows

Stunning silhouette

Against bright blue

Three of them

Then one remained

Darting and soaring

Directly overhead

Black and yellow butterfly returned

Three times

Too swift

To be captured on camera

Not to share

Just for me

Three simple but beautiful kisses

Divine Kisses

Gratefully received

And treasured.

The image that greeted me at CT International Arrivals

So I have arrived in Cape Town, feeling very thankful.

The last 8 months in the Uk was a longer stay than I was expecting but I can certainly see how it’s been used for good in so many ways.

Here opens a new season of my life, armed with a 3 year South African voluntary work visa, I step forward with excitement, anticipation and openness.

Thanks to everyone who is coming with me on this adventure, wherever you are in the world.
